Grayling: The Last Frontier Of Angling

By Ken Mcbroom Alaska is home to many species of fish with nearly, if not more, ways to pursue them. Much has been written about these species and the ways of catching them but one species, special to me, has escaped stardom. The Sailfish of the North or Arctic Grayling. Grayling thrive in the many free-flowing rivers and creeks as well as many still waters throughout Alaska. The Grayling tends to escape anglers attention as their focus is on larger and more famous species such as Salmon, Halibut and Rainbows. This lack of attention leaves the Grayling free to roam, feeding relentlessly on bugs, eggs and fry that reside in those rivers, creeks and lakes and with essentially no pressure from anglers. It is this lack of pressure that entices anglers that enjoy solitude and beauty during their angling adventures, something of the past, some might say, of other species and locations that harbor them. There are many opportunities to pursue Grayling in Alaska and is a great way to get away from it all. Grayling can take you away from the coastal watersheds and into some remarkable parts of the Last Frontier. You can find Grayling in most any free flowing stream and in many lakes throughout interior Alaska. Many rivers are silted by melting glaciers in the summer but run clearer in the winter and become wintering grounds for big Grayling. In the summer the Grayling move up the many tributaries, that feed these larger rivers, to feed and spawn. Find a good size tributary emptying into one of these rivers and you should find plenty of action for light spinning gear or fly rod. There are also plenty of clear rivers that are both winter as well as summer haunts for the Grayling. These rivers can be a bit tough to fish but can provide excellent results and big Grayling. Spin fisherman can handle the larger rivers a little better than fly anglers just because of the weight of the spinner getting the hook down through swift current and deep pools. Grayling are ferocious feeders and can keep you busy if you find a good spot which isnt real hard to do in Alaska. Spinners work great on light spinning rod and reel with light line of maybe four pound test. Grayling really strike a lure and engulf it. If catch and release is your intentions then you might want to think about single hook spinners and check the regulations for the area you plan to fish as some have single hook use only. If you do not have any or cant locate any for your trip you can cut two of the hooks from the treble and make a single or as I have done in the past just install a single hook onto the spinner making sure to match the size hook to the size spinner in order to keep it proportional. Normally one would wade upstream but with a spinner I prefer to wade downstream and take advantage of the current. Be sure to keep to the shoreline to keep from announcing your presence downstream, although I have found that as you wade downstream many morsels tend to be dislodged from the bottom for the Grayling waiting downstream causing a feeding frenzy by the time you arrive. Both points are argued but it has been my experience that in Alaska the Grayling are not easily spooked like many of the rivers in the lower 48 as many of the fish you catch, in most cases, have never seen a hook. If you plan on use spinning gear think light but not too light. There are some big Grayling out there that can give you a fit on an ultra-light outfit but more importantly there are Rainbows in many streams that hold Grayling. The last thing you want is a 24 inch Rainbow to surprise you and get off because your gear was too light. Personally, unless you know the water you will be fishing is small, and even then you could get a surprise, I would go with medium light or even a medium weight rod. Many of these rivers and lakes that are primarily targeted for Grayling often times hold some monster Rainbows, so be prepared. Small spinners of any make should work fine pulled through likely spots with a steady retrieve. Remember that Grayling feed aggressively and their mouths are a bit fragile when filled with a treble hook. Please think about spinners with single hooks and dont worry about hook ups because with their aggressive takes they pretty much hook themselves. If you plan to pursue this great little member of the Charr family with a fly rod a 3 to 5 weight works great. Depending on the size of river you are fishing casting distance can vary greatly from ten feet to sixty. I prefer floating line as an all around fly line except on the larger, deeper rivers where sometimes a sink tip is needed to thoroughly cover its many Grayling haunts from top to bottom in this case you may want to bring along a separate spool loaded with the two different lines in order to quickly change to the desired application for each run. Leaders are usually simple in Alaska. The fish here tend to be less line shy due to lack of experience. A single piece of monofilament is the usual choice but some might find that a tapered or hand tied graduated leader turns the fly over better in some cases so practice or just bring some along in case the simple leader doesnt work for you. I used a twenty dollar fly reel for years in Alaska for everything including Salmon. I have since moved up to something with a smooth drag system which is a necessity for serious Salmon fishing but for the Grayling as long as it turns and holds line you should be all right as most of your catches will probably never reach the reel. Fly anglers will love the willingness of the Grayling to attack just about any fly they choose to tie on. Of course there are certain patterns at certain times that produce better than others. For you dry fly enthusiast The Elk Hair Caddis is hard to beat especially early in the season on rivers with a Salmon run. Rivers without a Salmon run are void of eggs and therefore the egg pattern, while still effective to some extent, tends to go unnoticed when compared to the more traditional trout flies such as the Elk Hair Caddis, The Humpy, Sculpin, Alevin and of course the Woolly Bugger. Sometimes very small midge patterns work well but generally the action is so good with the other patterns you wont even think about them. One go to pattern you should have in your box is the Griffiths Gnat and the Mosquito Emerger. These patterns work well throughout the season. Fish a dry on a dead drift but then let it swing at the end and even strip the fly in before making the next cast. Grayling will often follow your fly as it drifts and smack it on the swing or the strip. If there are Salmon present in the river you are fishing then the egg pattern is hard to beat. The Egg-Sucking Leech is a great pattern as it simulates an egg on the drift and a sculpin or fry on the strip. Grayling are territorial and one thing I have noticed is when your fly is getting bombarded by small Grayling it usually means that there are no big Grayling in that hole or run. If you are seeking trophy Grayling you will want to consider a streamer pattern and deep pools. A Grayling will occupy a certain hole year after year provided it hasnt been altered by changes over the winter. They choose these deep holes and remain as motionless as possible to maintain their energy and sometimes will move just a short distance to eat. These Grayling protect their area aggressively chasing away any intruders and gobbling up any sign of protein that might drift by. If you locate a nice looking hole or run that seems to be fishless, even though you were just catching fish after fish the run before, stay put and fish that hole thoroughly with different patterns with different techniques as there is a good chance there is a big Grayling lurking somewhere below. One good way to entice a stubborn fish is to cast downstream and very slowly strip the streamer pattern upstream allowing the current to keep the fly suspended above the bottom. This works with spinners as well. As you pause the fly move your rod tip from side to side and watch as the fly follows the rod tip and you are able to cover a very large section of the run and give that big Grayling a chance to easily make a meal out of your fly. This technique is slow and without the excitement of a swirling take on the surface but if it is trophy Grayling you are after this technique works great. Grayling is the last frontier of angling. With so much emphasis put on the other species found here in this anglers paradise the Grayling continues to go unnoticed by the many anglers that journey here each year. When I talk about the great trips to remote rivers and lakes and tell about the great fun I had catching Grayling after Grayling people listen and you can see their eyes light up then they say. You know I have been meaning to try out Grayling fishing but I never get around to it. If you enjoy pristine waters with spectacular views without all the people and nearly continuous action on many streams then you should give the Arctic Grayling a try and experience the last frontier of angling. http://www.ramblingangler.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ken_Mcbroom http://EzineArticles.com/?Grayling:-The-Last-Frontier-Of-Angling&id=280869 need a 35000 dollar debt consolidation loan with poor credit no fax no credit check one hour payday loan payday loan resource center short-term loan providers

Blessing and Cursing

By Reginald Johnson The tongue and every word we speak contain the power of life or death. Words have the power to bring life and blessing, or to bring death and cursing through the energy they contain. Our intention is paramount because while people notice our outward action, God looks on the heart. Sometimes, our intention and inward motives are more important than what we actually say or do. It is intention that gives words their power. Intention is the inward motive or energy behind the thought or word. Words combined with love, wisdom and Divine inspiration are like apples of gold on trays of silver. Offered to a weary hearer, they become beautiful, living, hope-bearing morsels that nourish the soul. By the same token, when words are combined with hatred, jealously or selfish motives they are like the fig tree that was cursed and withered; they have the ability to bring death, discouragement and despair to the hearer. Which would you rather have spoken to you? The Benediction You may have attended a church service where the minister pronounced a benediction or blessing at the end, e.g. “May God bless and keep you.” Blessings and curses are prayers spoken over another person, place or thing. Most people don’t believe these words actually mean or do anything, but in reality our words do confer blessing or cursing. These prayers are a compilation of precisely structured and arranged words. A benediction to bless can be poetic, artistic and very eloquently presented at special occasions such as at a bar mitzvah, a graduation ceremony or a wedding. A wicked incantation may be presented in tribal countries that use an evil form of voodoo to combat enemies. I am not saying that all tribal nations who practice voodoo intend harm to others. There is a such thing as good voodoo, witchcraft and spells that are beneficial. On the other hand, I have been in Christian prayer circles that placed a curse on another person because the words spoken violated their free will and asked God to bring about hardship or sickness that would make that person repent of their sins! Blessing and cursing does not have to be a formal petition to God conducted during a ceremony or spoken directly over another person. It can be something as simple as an email. Im referring to those nutty emails that have a wonderful blessing in them. Then as you scroll through, there is message such as, if you don’t send this to at least 5 people in 5 minutes, you will have bad luck for years. Let me remind you that a blessing should never threaten you with a curse. Those emails that curse you if you dont respond are the lowest form of spiritual bribery. They are a manipulative way to get you to do something by using fear tactics. Whenever you get one of those emails, just delete it. If you feel you must forward it, then at least cut and remove the curse before you send it. I have never responded to this type of email and I have had extremely good luck. I believe that a message or blessing in the Kingdom will always reach you when you need it. A Formal Blessing Speaking a blessing over someone was a common practice to the early Jewish people. They believed that when God blessed something, He gave it life, and when he cursed something, it died. However, a simple observation of someone or their situation is not an indication as to whether they have been cursed or blessed. When people have sickness or hardship, it does not mean they are cursed. By the same token, if someone is well and prosperous it does not mean that God has blessed or favored them. As you will read in chapter 10, experiencing difficult circumstances in life shows one of two things: that the person decided before incarnating to learn his or her lessons through difficulty, or that the person is not aware of the Law of Attraction and is manifesting by default. You may be familiar with the story of Esau and Jacob in the 28th chapter of Genesis in the Old Testament of the Bible. They were twin brothers born only minutes apart to Isaac and Rebekah. The blessing of the birthright belonged to the firstborn, Esau, but Rebekah wanted her favorite son, Jacob, to have it. She devised a plan and disguised him as his older brother and sent him to his father with his favorite meal. Isaac was old and blind and didnt realize that he had blessed the wrong son until later when Esau came in expecting to receive the blessing. Even though it was gained by trickery, the blessing of the firstborn held power and came true. Some blessings and curses may not be so consciously presented. They can be given without one even being aware of it. When you are talking about someone with another person and one of you says something like, I hope it all works out well for her. She is a wonderful person, and Id like to see her really prosper. Do you realize you just blessed that person without their knowledge? On the flip side of the coin, cursing can be done in the same manner while standing in checkout line at the grocery store or driving in traffic. I am not talking about using profanity, but about the cursing of others with words and thoughts that throws energetic slander and hatred towards them. Anytime you speak or wish evil, harm or ruin to another person, you are cursing them. Doesnt everyone have enough stress without sending these poison darts? But they have cursed me, you might defend. Thats all the more reason to bless them. Jesus taught his disciples to bless those that curse you even your enemies. Doing so transmutes the harmful energy to beneficial energy for both the receiver and the sender. Thats powerful! The Bible used to scare me half to death when I was a teenager because I knew that Gods righteousness condemned sinners. I understood as humans we were under divine condemnation because each has rejected the revelation of God through salvation in Christ. So essentially, we were cursed if we were not under the umbrella of a fire insurance policy against going to Hell. It didnt help growing up in a strict Methodist environment and later to an A.M.E. Church. One associate minister used to get so passionate about his sermon delivery, I thought, Oh my God, one day hes gonna have a heart attack if he keeps this up. Yes, he had a heart attack while I was sitting in the front row. I saw him pass out in the middle of his sermon. I sat there stunned because it just crossed my mind the week before and I did not say it aloud, only in my mind. Although I was not aware of the principles at the time, I felt some inner connection in what I said and what happened to Reverend Lewis. Were my words that powerful that I had cursed him? The heart attack did not kill him, thank God, but he left the church for a long time before preaching again. Needless to say, I left church in Washington, D.C. and moved to a galaxy far, far away Los Angeles! I was made the official spiritual advisor for a radio station in San Bernardino, California a few years ago. I visited the studio on occasion to answer a few questions from callers and sometimes in-studio guests. One of the shows hosts, a female disc jockey, asked me to read her on the air. I did so, as she requested. I made a comment about her having a baby. I had a hunch she did not believe me because she had surgery to prevent a baby from entering this world through the mother vehicle. I gave her a look of total confidence and said, Although you are in your late 30s, and believe it is impossible, I know you will have a baby girl. She looked at me doubtfully, but tried to clothe herself with an air of confidence for benefit of the listening audience in what I was telling her. When I was leaving the studio, a Bible passage hit me hard, life and death are in the tongue. (Proverbs 18:2). Last year I received a phone call from that same radio DJ who told me she was pregnant and having a baby girl and that she was in complete shock because it was impossible for her to get pregnant. Her child was waiting to be born and I saw her and spoke her into this reality with faith in the Higher Power who made everything there is. Jesus Cursed a Fig Tree Matthew 21:18-19; 20-22 and Mark 11:12-14; 20-25 says, in essence: And on the morrow, when they had come out of Bethany, he [Jesus] hungered. And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season of figs. And he answered and said unto it, No man [will] eat fruit from you from now on for ever. And his disciples heard it . . .And as they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance said unto him, Rabbi, behold, the fig tree that you cursed is withered away (Mk. 11:12-14; 20-21). The followers, or disciples of Christ understood the power of words and for their benefit, Jesus was always giving them a lesson. In the above-referenced passage, Christ did not curse the tree as an act of intolerance. As an Ascended Master and Son of God, he was hungry and told the tree so. He indicated that since the leaves came first without fruit, no one would ever eat from the tree again. His disciples listened carefully, hanging onto every word. Jesus demonstrated the power of words. Some people will judge this decision and think that the supernatural power of Christ was wasted on a vulgar demonstration before the disciples. However, Christ knew that he had (and we have) authority and dominion over all creation. There are plenty of other stories about the life of Jesus that are undocumented that would fill large volumes if they were to be printed. Other manuscripts such as The Book of Thomas have been found that show even more mysteries of the secret doctrines of Christ. What we now call the scriptures contained in the Bible are only a part of what has been written about Jesus Christ. Many people do not realize that some accounts of his life were omitted from ancient texts by the Nicene Council for the purpose of regulating the Church and the government under one belief system during the reign of Constantine. In reading any text or hearing any message, be sure to listen to the voice of God within to be sure that what is being presented resonates with your spirit. Binding and Loosing I mention binding and loosing here because it has to do with blessing and cursing. I want to remind you that words spoken on earth, have an effect in other realms of the universe. In Matthew 16:19-20 Jesus said, I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Binding (restraining and holding back) and loosing (allowing or setting free) may be applied to anything or anyone. Having God and Goddess as our Divine parents, we are born with the power to invoke their assistance to bind all forces of darkness on earth, and in ourselves and others, as well as to set free or loosen captives. These are laws or commands that we may execute via our free will. We have the power to bless people and send the light of love to them physically and remotely as well as to curse them. In Wicca there is a statement of the same nature, as above, so below. Whatever we bind or loose on earth is also bound or loosed in heaven. I believe binding and loosing also has to do with granting karmic grace as Jesus did when He forgave the sins of others. When we forgive, we set people free; many times ourselves as well as the offender. I am always amazed that the multiple meanings attached to English words. In the case of binding and loosing these words can mean the same thing since they share similar meanings. Let me explain. Most people think of binding as the act of restraining or controlling something, and some may pray that the powers of evil be bound. Loosing is generally referred to as unwrapping, exposing or setting something free; such as releasing a bird from its cage. However, binding can also be used positively, to secure, wrap or embrace something good. With this principle, you could envision yourself being securely bound to love and kindness if you wish to attract those virtues to yourself. By the same token, the principle of loosing can mean to divide or separate from. You could use the principle of loosing in this manner for removing or separating yourself from limiting or negative patterns of thinking. Binding and loosing is a simple matter of perspective. The Myth Of A Christian Soul Mate

By Jay White Catch phrases are a part of everyday society. They become hugely popular, ride a wave of cultural phenomenon, than seem to disappear as quickly as they came. But theres a term that was introduced years ago and still hasnt dropped from the vocabulary, even in Christian dating circles. Whenever theres a conversation about relationships, it always seems to pop out of somewhere. That term is soul mate. Read romance novels. Listen to popular love songs. Watch movies on Lifetime television, and chances are soul mate will be uttered in some way, shape or form. In fact, entire stories have spawned from the idea of a soul mate. Ever see Sleepless in Seattle? You get the picture. But Im here to tell you something that may not be popular, but I sincerely believe its the truth: Theres no such thing as a soul mate. Now, before you gasp and go storming away from your computer, consider the premise of Sleepless in Seattle. A perfectly happy woman, engaged to a man she loves, spends most of her time lamenting the fact that she may have missed out on someone better. Of course, were led to believe her true soul mate lives 3,000 miles away and doesnt know her from Adam. Yet, destiny and fate must have their way, and incredible circumstances bring them to the climactic scene on top of the Empire State Building, where the two strangers lock eyes and know instantly that they are to be together forever. Fade to black, roll credits and hand me a barf bag! Dont get me wrongI can dig a chick movie now and then. But to buy into the soul mate theory goes completely against what God wants for us in a relationship. For example, my wife and I believe 100% that God brought us together. I am completely and totally in love with my wife. Does that mean I could never love another? Nope. I could fall in love with someone else if I wanted. I could crush everything weve built and separate myself from my family. But I CHOOSE not to. And thats the key. Real love is not at-first-sight, violins-and-bluebirds baloney. Its a choice. Plain and simple. Destiny hasnt preordained our lives, God has. But Hes also given us free will in the matter. Just like we make the choice between serving God or serving ourselves, we also choose whether or not to love someone. But according to popular culture and the media, you dont have a choice. You must search for your one-and-only soul mate. Get all swept up in the romance. Dont be concerned with the real world. And thats what gets a lot of people in trouble. They start believing the hype instead of believing the Truth. Before you know it, theyre throwing away a perfectly healthy relationship for a fantasy. In fact, its my personal belief that a large factor in the demise of traditional family values is the proliferation of such anti-Christian ideas, such as a soul mate, through the media. If I buy into the notion of a soul mate, then I believe destiny has preordained just one person for me. Only one. Anyone else would obviously make me unhappy and unfulfilled. After all, its been laid out for me already. I have no choice. Wrong! What if I lost my wife tragically? I would hope that the Lord would bring someone for me to marry again in time, but if Ronda was my soul mate, then what would that make my second wifesoul mate part 2? See what am I getting at here? God has a perfect mate for you and will help you find them. But He cant make you love them. Thats up to you. For example, we have friends who spent their lives on the mission field. The wife will flat-out tell you that she did not love her husband when she married him. But she knew God wanted them to be together, so she grew to love him over the years and never looked back. Now THATs faith! Do yourself a favorturn off the tube. Throw away those trashy novels. Stop listening to those sappy love songs and dig into the Word! Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. He had a plan for me and he has a plan for you. Talk with Him, listen to Him, and Hell lead the way. And when you do find that special someone, youll know that its not destiny that brought you together, but His good and perfect will. So take that Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks! Thanks Mankind!

By Tyler Brooker I got to thinking today and have to say, we rock! Humans I mean. For some reason, as I sat there, eating my McDonalds, I started thinking about technology. Man was I impressed! We have so much, and we dont think about it enough. I suppose it really doesnt make much of a difference to think about it anyways, but life would just be so much harder if it wasnt 2005. We have evolved into quite the creatures. We have technology like computers and IPOD’s to make our lives easier and more enjoyable. When was the last time we said thanks? Better yet, who are we saying thanks to? I suppose we thank God. He did, afterall, create us. What else did I think about? Medicine! How about all those machines and stuff we have to make sure we get a proper diagnosis, so that we can get proper treatment. Like MRI’s and Blood tests and all that. Go us! And all those medicines that we have, which allow us to enjoy a long happy and healthy life. Basically, we have made life more entertaining with technology, and then in turn technology made our lives longer so that we could enjoy it. Thats a good cycle, and you can sign me up for it again this year. Pretty much, I just wanted to take a moment and think about what mankind has done, and thank those who did it for us. THANKS! Breast Reduction - Good and Bad Reasons to Choose It

By Livia Belmonte Breast reduction is a popular topic, especially among women with fairly large breasts. Just like any medical procedure, breast reduction implies certain advantages and certain disadvantages. At the same time, women seem to choose breast reduction due to a wide range of different reasons while some of them can be considered pertinent, others need more reflection. Here are the top reasons why considering breast reduction might seem justified: You feel uncomfortable. Some women with large breasts find it difficult to rest or sleep in comfortable positions. You can either adjust to this situation or you can think about more drastic measures, such as breast reduction. You feel unattractive. Some might say that this reason is superficial, yet constantly dealing with complexes is not an easy task to accomplish. But still, you need to be objective and not obsessive when evaluating your breasts. Simply sustaining that your breasts are too large, when all the people around you are disagreeing might not qualify as a relevant reason to opt for breast reduction. You can not perform certain activities. Mainly, women with very large breasts complain about being unable or to perform certain sportive activities, ranging from running to playing dynamic team sports. If this is your case and you feel very unhappy about it regardless if you want to be a professional athlete or if you simply want to practice sports you might take breast reduction into consideration. Your back hurts. This is a common reason why women with large breasts opt for breast reduction. Basically, we are talking about a weight that is carried every day and this fact might affect the position of the back. Therefore, in case your breasts are very large, you might suffer from frequent back problems. And this is a relevant reason for considering breast reduction. On the other hand, here are the top reasons that should not be the only criteria that basis your decision regarding breast reduction: You feel its time for a change. Do not risk your health simply because you feel like changing something on your body. It is a surgery, after all and surgeries do imply risks. Change your hair color and style, buy new outfits, but avoid choosing breast reduction because you are simply bored of your breasts. Your partner told you to opt for breast reduction. No, do not opt for breast reduction, just because your boyfriend told you so. Sadly, many women choose serious measures, such as surgery, simply because their partners want to change them. A breast reduction a serious medical procedure and should be treated as such, so do not put your health and beauty at risk simply because somebody else - not you - is unhappy with the way you look. Your friend had breast reduction. Do not choose breast reduction just because your friend did and she looks great. Every person is and looks different and you are not assured to get the same results as other people did. So, wanting to have breasts like your friend should not be the only reason that basis your breast reduction decision. Considering the facts above and hoping you make the right decision regarding breast reduction, we wish you all the best in achieving beauty and maintaining your good health. How To Grow Garlic In Your Organic Garden Step by Step, Part 2

By Julie Williams 6. Maintenance. Garlic needs very little attention. Through winter you will need to water only if conditions are extremely dry. Pull any weeds as they come through. As the weather gets warmer through spring and summer, water accordingly. If weeds are becoming a problem or your layer of mulch has started to break down, add a further layer of mulch (leave a few inches from the foliage free of mulch to prevent rotting the stems). 7. Harvesting your Garlic. Your garlic bulbs should be ready to harvest when the foliage starts turning brown at the tips. Dont leave them in the ground til the foliage has completely withered and died back or the bulbs may become over-mature, start splitting or even burst apart. Wait for a hot, dry day to harvest. Use a hand fork or digger to loosen the soil, then carefully pry them from the ground. Pulling from the stems can cause damage. Shake any loose soil from the bulbs and leave them to cure for a few weeks. Hang them by their stems in bunches in a dry, well ventilated area. Your garden shed is ideal. They can also be dried on racks. Either way, you want to prevent mould or mildew from forming. You must never wash your bulbs. If they dont dry out properly they may rot. Cut off any mouldy stems immediately as it can spread very quickly to your precious bulbs. After several weeks you can cut off the stems and store the bulbs in a string or hessian bag, using as you need them. Or you can plait the stems together as has been done traditionally for many centuries and add some cottage charm to you kitchen. You just cut off each bulb as you need it. Preserving your excess. There are many ways to preserve any excess garlic you have grown. Do some research before choosing a method as the beneficial properties of garlic change with various preservation methods. You can pickle garlic in vinegar, freeze it, dry it. There is a risk of botulism if you preserve garlic in oil even refrigerated for more than three weeks. Health benefits. Garlic has been used medicinally throughout history. Many scientific studies have been completed that show beyond reasonable doubt that eating garlic improves your overall health. More specifically garlic: * Can lower blood pressure * Lowers or helps regulate blood sugar * Helps remove heavy metals from the body * Is a potent, natural anti-biotic * Has anti-fungal and anti-viral properties * Dramatically reduces yeast infections * Can help prevent blood clots from forming There are probably many more health benefits to regularly including garlic in your diet. It has also been shown that garlic tablets are less effective than ingesting live garlic. I just love it and use it as a base along with onions in almost all my savoury cooking. And just for the record, I hardly ever get sick. Hi, I am an avid organic gardener and am known by my friends as the recycling queen. I live on a small country property in South Australia. Motorsports Marketing and Sponsorship

By Louis Albornoz Why Become A Motorsports Sponsor? A company can benefit from motorsports sponsorship in many ways, such as: 1. Driving Sales Sponsorship geared towards driving sales can be an extremely effective promotional tool. Many successful companies use motorsports sponsorship to stimulate consumer interest, which in turn, generates sales. Sponsorship also drives traffic to their web sites and increases online purchasing. This contributes to a significant rise in overall sales volume as well. 2. Heightening Visibility and Creating Positive Publicity Motorsports sponsorship provides wide exposure in broadcast, print and electronic media. This exposure creates positive publicity and heightens visibility of your company’s products and services. The various media covering a racing event usually include sponsor names and/or photos. Additionally, the media coverage you often receive as a sponsor would prove too expensive if purchased outright, assuming it was even available. Motorsports sponsorship often generates publicity that could not have been bought. 3. Enhancing Image and Shaping Consumer Attitudes Companies are often looking to improve how they are perceived by a particular audience. One way of achieving this goal is by becoming affiliated with well-liked sports personalities. Professional auto racing is the largest spectator sport in the world and reaches a consumer market that crosses all boundaries of age, race and gender. Sponsoring a racing driver is an excellent way to shape the buying attitudes of this vast demographic and will help to generate a positive reaction towards your company and its products and services. 4. Differentiating from Competitors The mere act of sponsoring a racing driver or team, especially an exclusive sponsorship, is a significant way to create competitor differentiation. Your company name can stand out head and shoulders above the competition. Motorsports sponsorship is a powerful weapon against a competitor with a larger advertising budget. Sponsorship allows smaller companies to compete with their industry giants and consumers often perceive sponsorship in a positive way. Using motorsports sponsorship will give you a decided edge over your competition. 5. Enhancing Business, Consumer and Employee Relations Sponsorships that offer hospitality allow companies the chance to entertain key customers and solidify business relationships. Using sponsorship in connection with a consumer rewards program increases goodwill and customer retention. Companies that use motorsports sponsorship as part of their employee reward and incentive programs experience increased productivity. Treating employees to a fun day of racing excitement is an excellent way to boost morale and to thank them for their hard work. Summary Motorsports sponsorship is a powerful, cost-effective marketing opportunity. The enormous international appeal of auto racing, combined with careful planning, can elevate your company to new heights of success. The P Value And Its Significance

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Quoc_Nguyen] Quoc Nguyen When diversifying an investment portfolio, one needs to consider investing in the healthcare industries. Pharmaceutical companies that have strong pipelines of investigation drugs have strong growth speculations. In addition to examining its pipelines, one also needs to be able to evaluate the results of its clinical trials. When a news program reports the results of a clinical trial for a new drug to be statistically significant, what does it mean? And how did they come up with that conclusion? One of the most important values to look for when interpreting the results of a study is the P value. Elenbaas et al defines P value as the probability that a type I error has been committed, and that the null hypothesis has been falsely rejected. Lets briefly talk about the null hypothesis, type I error, and type II error. Lets say a new drug A is being compared to a currently available drug B. The first assumption that investigators will make is that the new drug A is equivalent or is equal in efficacy to the currently available drug B. This assumption is called the null hypothesis (H0). A contradicting assumption to the null hypothesis is the alternative hypothesis (H1). H1 says that the new drug A is more effective than the currently available drug B. In fact, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is what the investigators want to prove because the pharmaceutical companies developing the new drugs fund most of its clinical trials. Type I error occurs when H0 is rejected when it is really true. In other words, investigators believe that the new drug A is more effective than the currently available drug B (rejecting H0), when drug A is equal in efficacy to drug B, or worst, not as effective as drug B. Type II error occurs when H1 is actually true (drug A is more effective than drug B), but the investigators failed to reject H0 (did not reject the hypothesis that drug A is equal in efficacy as drug B). With the technical terminologies defined, lets go back to the P value. To reiterate, P value is the probability that a type I error has been committed, and that the null hypothesis has been falsely rejected. (Elenbass et al). The P value is said to be statistically significant when it is < 0.05. For example, a clinical trial comparing the effectiveness between drug A and drug B, found that drug A worked better at lowering the blood pressure than drug B, and the P value was calculated to be 0.04. This means that there is a 4% chance that a type I error is being committed (investigators falsely believe that drug A is more effective than drug B, when they are equal in efficacy). 0.05 is the largest acceptable P value in clinical literature. When investigators claim that drug A is more effective than drug B, they were correct 95% of the time, with only less than 5% chance error. There are many other important statistical values, but they are beyond the scope of this article. Now, whenever a reporter on television reports the results of a clinical trial for a new drug to be statistically significant, one can perform their own verification by obtaining a copy of that study and look for the P value.
